For rest, relaxation and recuperation, the Highland hideaway of Badan Mhugaidh is ideal, but if gruelling fitness challenges are more your thing, it’s for you, too! Serious athletes come from all over the world to compete in local challenges like the Celtman extreme triathlon and Bealach cycle races over Britain’s highest mountain pass. For everyone else, there are endless possibilities for active, fascinating and sociable holidays in amazingly beautiful surroundings and fresh mountain air.
The two cottages of Badan Mhugaidh are thoroughly modern holiday rentals on the former Ben Damph Estate in Torridon. Built in 2016, they can be rented either separately for four or together for eight, with active couples the most usual guests.
The properties command a stunning landscape beside the Balgy River, facing across Loch Torridon towards the mountains Beinn Alligin and Liathach, ‘Munros’ – mountains over 3,000 feet – waiting to be ‘bagged’ by the fit and willing. Ben Damph beckons from behind.
The two-bedroomed cottages are pet-friendly and exceptionally well-equipped, with kitchens boasting upmarket appliances from dishwashers to coffee machines. Super-comfy beds come with feather and down duvets. The bathrooms have rainfall showers and double-ended baths. Living areas have wood-burners and smart TV and there is wi-fi throughout. Convenient facilities exist for drying wet people, clothes and dogs.
Golf and the NC500 road touring route are nearby, as are great eateries serving everything from pub grub to fine dining.
