A double anniversary of two charities in Coventry is being celebrated in song at an event they hope will raise all the right notes.

The Carnival of Animals concert next month, marks the 15th and 21st anniversaries of Coventry Foodbank and Feed The Hungry UK respectively.

Performers from Leamington & Warwick Dance Academy and AQDA are joining Coventry and Warwickshire Youth Orchestra for the special charity event at Coventry Cathedral, on November 9th.

Founded in 2011, Coventry Foodbank has grown from a small community initiative into a vital service supporting thousands of local people each year. Over the past 15 years, the organisation has worked in partnership with local churches, schools, businesses, and referral agencies to provide emergency food parcels and compassionate support to those in crisis.

Feed The Hungry is an international Christian humanitarian organisation committed to fighting hunger due to poverty, war, famine and natural disasters. The charity works to reduce world hunger by establishing feeding programmes and supporting disaster relief.

With its partner organisations, since 1987, Feed The Hungry have globally assisted in feeding over 650,000 children every day in 30 countries.

Canon Gavin Kibble MBE, Founder of Coventry Foodbank and Chief Executive of Feed The Hungry UK, said: “Since Coventry Foodbank first opened its doors, it has become something far bigger than any of us imagined. What began as a small response to need in our city, operating from just two locations, has grown into a citywide lifeline for thousands of families, and none of that would have been possible without the remarkable people who stand behind it.

“Hundreds of volunteers sort, pack and deliver week in, week out. Individuals, churches, schools and local businesses donate to ensure that food is always available. Our partners and referral agencies make sure help reaches the people who need it most. This is Coventry at its best, and it deserves to be celebrated.

“The Carnival of the Animals is our way of marking this milestone and celebrating the huge effort of so many people who have invested time and resources in ensuring that no one in Coventry goes hungry.

“There is something especially fitting about holding it at Coventry Cathedral, a place that has always stood for hope and renewal – the same hope that comes in a box of food or a friendly conversation at a foodbank centre. So I’d warmly invite everyone to come and join us on 9 November.”

The Carnival of Animals – An evening of music and Dance in recognition of all of those who make the Coventry foodbank possible – is on Monday, November 9th, between 6-7.30pm. Doors open at 5.30pm. Tickets cost £17 for adults and £10 for children under 12 and are available via HERE.

Both charities operate out of The Halo Centre in Binley, Coventry. Find out more about the work of Feed The Hungry UK HERE.
