Score Valley Country House is one of Devon’s best kept secrets, a splendid Georgian manor house in a delightful hidden corner of Ilfracombe. The guest house sits in 1½ acres of woodland in a secluded valley and offers peace and tranquillity while being within easy reach of some of Britain’s best loved beaches and seaside resorts, including Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands.
Dogs are welcome to share the love at Score Valley. There are wonderful walks just outside the door, perhaps to be enjoyed after an excellent breakfast cooked to order using quality local produce and featuring a big choice of cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt. It’s a pleasant stroll to Ilfracombe’s bustling High Street and harbour and the wild charms of Exmoor are only a short drive away.
Owners Paul and Donna Edmunds provide eight comfy guest bedrooms adapted for modern holidaymakers. The doubles have king or super king sized beds, most of which can be split into singles. Most are en suite but one has a private bathroom. All have generous hospitality trays, towels, toiletries, hairdryers, satellite television and WiFi.
Guests have use of a well stocked honesty bar and a sun terrace overlooking a babbling brook.
Donna says: “We want everyone to feel at home; pour yourself a drink, light the log fire, come and go as you please.”
