Holidays at Scar Close Camping & Glamping give people all the peace, space and natural surroundings to truly relax and wind down from their everyday lives. Based within the outstandingly beautiful Arnside and Silverdale area, just outside the Lake District National Park, this family-friendly site with sea views, horses and Highland cattle holds a cherished Gold Award from the campsite specialists Pitchup.com.

Scar Close is much quieter than Lake District hot spots, yet only 30 minutes’ drive from Windermere and less to the seaside resort of Morecambe. There’s an RSPB nature reserve nearby and walking trails in all directions.

For summer use, Scar Close has 10 pet-friendly pitches where people can erect their own tents, with single nights allowed. There are five basic bell tents with sleeping mats provided, although many campers provide their own equipment, plus three larger luxury bell tents, furnished for four.

Top of the range are three superb holiday bothies created from restored stone animal shelters, complete with hot tubs, two of them deeper, Japanese-style Oforu soaking baths. Available for rent year-round, these unique luxury quarters provide contemporary comforts including a well-equipped kitchen, modern shower and toilet, TV, wi-fi, underfloor heating and wood-burning stove.

Couples can snuggle into a handmade, king-sized bed, while a mezzanine floor has a double mattress. The bothies don’t take dogs, but do come with many pleasant extras, including eco-friendly toiletries, plump pillows and a coffee pod machine.
