Scenic Welsh countryside can be enjoyed at its relaxing best in the luxurious family and dog-friendly Capel Colman Cottages. Overlooking the Preseli Mountains in a peaceful Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the three stone barn conversion cottages cater for two, four or six people and can be booked together for family groups of up to 12 people, facilities include log burners and a private hot tub.
Guests love the extensive choice of walks right from the farm. Riders can take their own horses along to enjoy the local woodland and open countryside, or perhaps take a short trip for exhilarating beach riding.
Capel Colman Cottages sit on the borders of Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire. They’re five miles from the great beaches of Cardigan Bay, which is famous not only for great beaches and rockpools, but also for marine wildlife such as bottlenose dolphins, harbour porpoises and grey seals.
The area is in a Dark Sky Reserve due to a lack of light pollution, meaning that the star-gazing is some of the most awe-inspiring in the country, while the farm is tranquillity itself. The business is sustainably run, with owners Dave and Sam striving to be not just ‘sustainable’ in all their practices, but carbon positive, offsetting more carbon than they actually generate by using renewable energy, tree planting and thoughtful farming of rare breed Soay sheep.
Planting to encourage biodiversity, they regularly attract wildlife such as pheasants and owls, while red kites can be seen gliding above on most days.
The communal games room with table football, darts, table tennis and board games, coupled with outdoor play area and natural surroundings mean guests don’t have to spend much to have a great time, but beyond the farm is a lively foodie scene and numerous notable attractions.
The farm is only five miles from Cardigan, with restaurants serving food from pizza and moreish brunches to Michelin-accredited fine dining at The Old Printworks.
The magnificent coast and mountainous countryside are a magnet for walkers, with the renowned Pembrokeshire Coastal Path offering spectacular scenery and wildlife. Impressive castles within reach include that of Pembroke, birthplace of Henry Tudor, who became the first monarch of the Tudor dynasty.
