Cornwall’s beautiful Trethiggey Holiday Park is better than ever after and offering a warm welcome to guests with tents, touring caravans and motorhomes. The family-run site on the edge of Newquay – a resort famous for its beautiful beaches and powerful Atlantic surf – also has static caravans available to buy or rent.
Trethiggey covers some 16 acres and has both grass and hard standing pitches, which are well spaced out and served by facilities including two modern shower blocks with hot water, a games room, children’s adventure playground and a fishing lake. Many are sheltered by the 4,000 trees and shrubs on site.
All that greenery plays a key part in Trethiggey’s popularity. It attracts diverse birds such as kingfishers, jays and woodpeckers, not to mention foxes, bats, rabbits and badgers. The site encourages them with nest boxes, ongoing planting and thoughtful planning and also uses eco-friendly technology to limit environmental impact.
There is no shop or club on-site to disturb the peace, so everything is quiet and relaxed, but there are three village pubs within walking distance for those who wish to be sociable.
Amy, of the owning family, says: “This is a lovely spot in the Cornish countryside. Newquay is great, but with the A30 nearby we’re also well placed for exploring the rest of Cornwall, including the Eden Project.”
