Overnight guests are just as welcome as those staying longer at Oldshoremore Croft Cabins, purpose-designed modern accommodation for couples travelling the North Coast 500 touring route. The eight cabins, which can accommodate group bookings, are just a minute’s walk from the superb Oldshoremore sandy beach and are fully equipped for a relaxing, fuss-free stay with stunning sea and sunset views. The owners’ donkeys, goats and tame alpacas live on their nearby croft within Oldshoremore, and guests can, if they wish, book an alpaca stroll along the shoreline.
Each cabin sleeps two, with a double bed, en-suite shower and toilet, kitchen, living area and efficient central heating for assured cosiness, even when there’s a named storm raging outside. When the weather is fine, guests often sit outside on their own outdoor seating area. On clear winter nights, the Northern Lights may even put on a spectacular show.
The cabins are located in the crofting hamlet of Oldshoremore, 20 miles south of Durness, reached by travelling through the fishing village of Kinlochbervie, where visitors can fuel up both their bodies and their vehicles. The village has amenities including a grocery store and several places to enjoy a good meal without needing to squander time on cooking.
The coastal walks and wildlife in these parts are outstanding, with otters, eagles, seals and rare flower species often seen, especially on the four-mile walk to beautiful Sandwood Bay.
