More and more people are going with the glow thanks to unique reflective knitwear from the nifty needles of GlowBeanie in Snowdonia, Wales.
GlowBeanie has gained a following of people who like to get themselves noticed when they are out in the dark. This niche craft company has produced an enormous output of snug glowing beanie hats, neck gaiters, wristbands and even dog jackets and leg warmers.
The washable products may have spots, stripes or pompoms, come in plain or multi-colours from black to neon orange and fit anyone from a newborn baby to a proper bighead. They can be ordered en masse in club and team colours or made as bespoke one-offs.
Until recently GlowBeanies have all been knitted in super chunky wool. Now they also come in double knitting yarn for a lighter, airier feel in spring and summer.
GlowBeanie garments are all different, yet they all have one shining feature in common. They glow in the dark.
The products are not only the brain warmer but the brainchild of company owner Jane Beachell, a serial knitter who crafts each item herself.
“All GlowBeanie products have reflective thread running through the yarn,” says Jane. “They reflect the light from passing traffic. That means wearers can feel so much safer and more confident that they can be seen when they are out and about at night, perhaps jogging or walking their dogs.”
