Transforming living space is what Jennifer Suzanne Interiors is all about and the company’s latest projects are a triumphant example. One bland, boring room has become a vibrant bar in which to ramp up the party atmosphere, while another dreary space has been revitalised as a library.
Owner Jennifer Suzanne Alekna is a graphic designer who retrained in interior design. She gained experience with another professional before launching her freelance business in August. Now she is boldly helping customers to fulfil grand aspirations.
Her latest work on a period property has breathed new life into two rooms using imagination and great attention to functionality, ambience and detail.
“The owner wanted to transform what was a rather unloved room into a stylish, funky entertainment area with bar,” says Jennifer.
“We decided on a London/Mayfair feel and I designed individual machine cut mouldings to replicate traditional wall panelling and create the feel as if they’d always been there.
“Working with my network of local contractors we installed a bespoke bar with an integrated wine cooler and drinks fridge, added a new parquet floor, brought in velvet bar stools, mirrored the alcoves and painted the walls. We installed a full Sonos sound with speakers in the ceiling.
“The project started in October and finished by December 21. The owner had a fantastic time in the bar and was able to proudly display his expensive collection of whiskeys.”
The library was likewise given very thoughtful treatment including two bespoke bookcases with striking green backings to highlight the oak shelving. Curtains and bolster cushions were specially made and a sofa was reupholstered to ‘as new’ condition. With new lighting and careful painting to highlight the elaborate cornicing details that room, too, was transformed.
