Every bride looks forward to their perfect wedding, but before then they can enjoy another memorable occasion by buying their all-important dress from Burford House Bridal.

This is not just any wedding shop this is Burford House Bridal

Opened earlier this year, this inspiring business is not just another wedding dress shop but a bridal boutique set in seven acres of beautifully landscaped gardens at Burford House, Tenbury Wells, itself an idyllic wedding venue.

Each bride books into Burford House Bridal for an experience 100% focussed on her having an amazing time finding her dream dress and accessories.

Owner Debbie Bowdley-Smith stocks a collection of beautiful wedding dresses handmade in the studios of the Spanish design house Pronovias, based in Barcelona. These elegant dresses come in captivating fabrics and styles and are available in all sizes.

The premises have been freshly and beautifully refurbished and provide relaxing surroundings for trying on the dresses at leisure, perhaps with a little iced fizz to help proceedings along. Brides can go alone or take others along to share the experience. Afterwards, with the dress chosen and ordered, they can enjoy those grounds, perhaps walking by the River Teme and taking afternoon tea in the rustic café.

For Debbie, opening Burford House Bridal has been a way of turning a tragic year of events into an inspirational new phase in her life.

Previously she worked as a city store manager for the high street shop chain BHS, but after 10 years with the company fell victim to its collapse and the devastating closures which followed. In 2016 she became one 11,000 employees to lose their jobs.

Next she was hit by a wave of bereavements, first her mother-in-law at Christmas, then her father, who had dementia. Finally came the unexpected death of her brother, John, when he was only 47.

Debbie tried various employment options then learned of plans for Burford House to have wedding related businesses on site, including hair and beauty salons, a florist and marquee hire.

“I’ve always been passionate about bridalwear and it was a dream for me to be able to open my own bridal store,” said Debbie, “It felt like a big risk but I’ve been overwhelmed by all the support I’ve had.

“Burford House is so beautiful. It’s a joy to go to work and share the experience of people who are getting ready to spend the rest of their lives with someone they love.”
