Walkers and ramblers love to base themselves at the cosy, welcoming Sycamore Inn for bed & breakfast before tackling the awesome Kinder Scout, the famous moorland plateau which forms the highest point of the Peak District National Park.
This welcoming, dog friendly venue sits in the village of Birch Vale, surrounded by the wild Dark Peak scenery. It is less than a mile from neighbouring Hayfield and 1.5 miles from the town of New Mills with its shops, restaurants and amenities including rail links to Manchester, Sheffield and Buxton.
The Sycamore Inn is a popular stop off for anyone at the end of an exhilarating walk or climb. Its cosy bar offers a sociable end to an evening and the restaurant serves tasty lunches and evening meals daily. It does a roaring trade in Sunday dinners.
The Sycamore Inn is especially alluring for people staying for bed & breakfast. Five fabulous en suite rooms are each made up with king sized beds, quality Egyptian cotton bedding and towels, complimentary toiletries and drink making facilities, multi channel TV and even iPod docking. Two rooms are family rooms and several are suitable for people to have their dogs stay with them.
Everyone can expect a warm welcome from owners Darren & Samantha Kimber, who have adopted the motto: “May all our guests leave as friends”. If they can staying overnight they can also expect a brilliant breakfast, with cereals, yoghurts and fruit juices followed by traditional full English cooked to order using top quality, locally sourced ingredients.
Samantha says: “Most people who come go up Kinder Scout but we have got lots of local walks including Birch Vale Reservoir and the Sett Valley Trail, which people can push a pram along. The walk to Edale is beautiful and you can catch a train back to New Mills.”
We have 5 fantastic en-suite rooms two of which are family rooms. All having king size beds with Egyptian cotton bedding,
Egyptian cotton towels, complimentary soap, shower/bath cream, hand cream, shampoo & conditioner.
Our larger dinning room has been tastefully decorated to make a relaxed atmosphere and accommodates up to 50 diners.
We also have a large decking area off the dining room, with magnificent views of Ollersett Moor and accommodating 40 people to either relax in the sunshine with a drink, or order from our delicious menu
