Pershore Tennis Centre take home the trophies
Pershore Tennis Centre was recognised for its continued commitment to tennis with a number of wins at the Herefordshire & Worcestershire LTA annual County Awards and League Presentations hosted at Worcester County Cricket Club at the weekend.
Head Coach Steve Bauer was handed the Disability Programme of the year Award 2019 for his successes on court in encouraging wheelchair users and players with Down Syndrome and visual impairment to enjoy tennis.
The Club were also recognised for their Ladies A win in division 1, Ladies B win in division 5E and the Men’s B win div 6E of the Winter 2018/19 H&W as well as the Mixed A win in division 1, the Ladies B win in div 4E and the Men’s B win div 6E of the Summer 2019 leagues.
In addition, the Pershore Petticoats won the Pershore Indoor Tuesday League 2019.
The local Club was also awarded for their Disability Programme of the year in 2017; runner up in 2018 and other accolades include Club of the Year 2018: Highly Commended in 2017, Head Coach the County’s Coach of the Year 2018 and 2017 with Young Person of the Year 2018, Junior Volunteer of the Year 2017.
The Club will now have the opportunity to be recognised at a regional, and perhaps national, level early next year when they go up against other county winners.
Club Chair and Ladies A team Captain Sarah McCormick said: “Another great night for PTC, we have so much to be proud of in particular the successes of our men’s, ladies and mixed teams and the well-deserved recognition by H&W for Steve Bauer and his disability programmes.”
Steve continued: “I am delighted that we have been recognised again this year for making tennis accessible for all.
We are a very open club and welcome all to take lessons whatever your ability. We pride ourselves on giving everyone a top class tennis experience.”
