The award-winning team at Pershore Tennis Centre were on the road to Wimbledon at the weekend – playing away in the semi-final of the National Inter-Club Tournament.

In April, the local club – based behind Pershore College – entered a Ladies over 50’s team and won their quarterfinal match 3-1 against 45 club, Surrey in September, to win a match away against The Wimbledon Club in the semi-finals.

The Ladies all represent Hereford and Worcester at County level and entered the competition to get more match practice together. Whilst the Ladies lost in the semi-final, Captain and Chair at Pershore Tennis Centre, Sarah McCormick said:

“The Wimbledon Club’s team consisted of players that regularly represent England and their 1st pair included Clare Wood, former British number 1 who reached a world ranking high of 56! It was a great experience and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves – even though we lost!”

Please join us in congratulating the ladies for their smashing journey on the road to Wimbledon!
