Editor’s Choice Tranmere House Somerset
Explore town, country and coast from cosy B&B
Tranmere House offers friendly, cosy bed and breakfast accommodation in the Somerset seaside resort of Minehead, the ‘Gateway to Exmoor National Park’. It’s just a short walk from the main town attractions including the beach, harbour and promenade, a wide range of shops and many places to eat, drink and socialise.
The property was taken over last year by Mark and Leisa Turner and since then has been redecorated and upgraded throughout. New facilities include rainfall showers, Smart TVs with Netflix and even a new king sized guest room on the ground floor, supporting people who struggle with stairs.
The seven guest bedrooms are all en suite and beautifully clean, with hospitality trays included and the breakfasts are a delight, taken in a light, bright breakfast room. Choices include not only a freshly prepared traditional cooked full English alongside cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, juices, toast and preserves but also options such as eggs and pancakes.
Guests have shown appreciation on TripAdvisor, earning the couple a Certificate of Excellence. One reviewer summed up her experience saying: “Fantastic place to stay! Spotless accommodation, delicious breakfast and perfect hosts!”
Mark says: “This is a great base for exploring Somerset and the beautiful North Devon coastline. Exmoor is great for walkers and there are plenty of sports activities such as sea canoeing and wind surfing.”
