A hub of Worcestershire Mental Health and Wellbeing Services
The Old Needle Works is a hub of Worcestershire mental health and wellbeing services in the heart of Redditch, reaching everyone from children to older people with talking therapies, support groups, training and personal development.
Recently granted charitable status, The Old Needle Works provides professional wellbeing coaches who offer talking therapies and support groups to help people gain control of their lives and make positive changes towards bright, optimistic futures.
The centre holds classes such as meditation, exercise and healthy eating, adult education in maths, English and IT and creative courses to help people express themselves.
The work is mainly funded through grants.
In addition, the hub accommodates various relevant organisations such as local charities, holistic therapists and fitness clubs.
Some of the people who use the services may be helped to set up their own small businesses in a nurturing environment.
The charity’s Chief Executive, Elaine Grant, says: “The emphasis is on helping people to help themselves. We teach people strategies to manage emotions, deal with stress, control anger and become self-sufficient, rather than relying on agencies. We also do a lot of work with children after school.
“If anybody would like to rent premises from us, or if people they feel able to support our work through donations, voluntary work or resources, we’d love to hear from them.”
