Editor’s Choice The Grapes Hereford
You don’t have to be a wine connoisseur to enjoy The Grapes, Hereford. Anyone who appreciates good food, quality drink and a welcoming atmosphere will feel happily at home in this city centre pub, just yards from Hereford Cathedral.
The Grapes was taken into new ownership last September and has since been transformed into a food-led free house. It’s family friendly and able to cater for not only casual visitors but also for large groups and private parties.
Under the leadership of owner Ian Morgan – himself a chef – The Grapes offers a varied menu covering everything from light bites such as paninis to traditional hearty meals like fish & chips, all made with quality ingredients. Vegetarian and vegan options are part of every menu as it changes to accommodate seasonal dishes and everything is freshly prepared to order by the new head chef and his team. People come from miles around to enjoy the Sunday carveries.
Beers come from the local Ledbury Real Ales brewery and are exclusive to The Grapes. A wide range of other beverages are available, from spirits to soft drinks.
The bar is dog friendly and has traditional games like pool and darts, plus TVs for sports fixtures and other popular choices. Many people like to enjoy snacks in there, watching the world go by through the large, streetside windows.
