Editor’s Choice | Holly Bush At Gorcott Hill
A new owner has transformed the Holly Bush at Gorcott Hill, making it a vibrant, family-friendly destination just outside Redditch for anyone who appreciates good food.
The traditionally-designed Holly Bush was bought by Jon Cotton in July 2018 and given a back-to-the-brickwork makeover during a winter closure. Now it has reopened as a lively independent, a sociable place for drinks, meals and relaxation with a modern vibe, bubbly staff and an all new menu to suit the summer season. TripAdvisor reviews rate it ‘excellent’.
The food focus is emphatically on quality, with meat from a butcher with a Royal Warrant, Aubrey Allen, and fish from Brixham, Devon. Everything is fresh, locally sourced when possible and cooked to order. Choices include succulent steaks, stunning scallops and more than one taste of the Mediterranean, with the kitchen team headed by Jon himself.
The pub has a large bar where dogs are allowed, a restaurant with a more formal feel, a separate dining area for private parties of up to 10 people and a large, sun trap garden where many people enjoy eating in summer.
Locals love the variety in the bar, especially enjoying guest ales and the pub’s very own Holly Bush Ale, specially brewed by Marston’s.
“I’ve got a great team of staff, led by the manager, Ryan, and some really good chefs,” says Jon.
