A ROYAL THANK YOU FOR DEDICATION TO THREE
COUNTIES AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY
A COMMITTED farmer, who has overseen the Three Counties Agricultural Society for
six years, has been presented with a crystal decanter by HRH The Princess Royal to say thank you.
Michael Blandford has retired as Chairman of Council, a position he had held since 2011, and was delighted to receive his gift from the Society.
Chief Executive of Three Counties, Ken Nottage, said: “I would like to personally thank Michael for his dedication to the role of Chairman of Council. It’s been a pleasure and a privilege working with him. I thank him immensely for his support.”
Michael, a farmer from Coddington, who specialises in cider fruit production and is former President of the Hereford Cattle Society, became a member of Three Counties
Agricultural Society Council in 1982. He will continue working with the Society by overseeing the stewarding of the apple and pear orchards at the Three Counties Showground.
Michael is succeeded as Chairman of Council by Clive Roads, Managing Partner of Worcester Livestock Market.
He said: “I am honoured to have been elected and will do my utmost to uphold the legacy that Michael has left. My involvement with the Society goes back to the mid 1970s when I became a steward and this appointment is a culmination of many enjoyable years of service.”
Mr Nottage said: “I would like to congratulate Clive as he takes over the role, I am sure he will be a very worthy successor to Michael and will proactively represent the views of Council to the full.”
The Princess Royal presented five retiring members of Council with Honorary Life Governorships; Barbara Norman, Michael Blandford, Chris Bailey, Arthur Hurran and Chris Southgate. Princess Anne, who is Patron of The Royal Three Counties Show, also met with the staff at Three Counties Agricultural Society.
The presentation took place at a reception for Council, staff and major show sponsors on Thursday 7 December at Three Counties Showground, Malvern.
The Royal visit followed the Three Counties Council Meeting during which the 2017 President, Robert Bernays OBE DL was thanked for his work over the course of the year. Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire, Lt Col Patrick Holcroft LVO
